andrew having fun with the soot from the teapot
last night, I asked dad if Andrew and I could burn some of our wood scraps from making guns. He said yes, and andrew and I set to work. Dad said that we wouldn't get the whole box burnt. (it was a good sized box) but after a while, we had burnt the whole box. Then I had an idea, so I went and asked mom, 'could andrew and I sleep outside in our tent, and then get up in the morning and cook some pancakes? she said yes, and dad came out and we went to sleep. well, it got down to about 27 degrees, our dousing water for our fire had a crust of ice on it when we got up. Even though our pancakes did NOT work, we enjoyed a few hot cups of hot cocoa, which did work wonderfully. another thing that worked good, was hard boiled eggs. we got two eggs, two big cans, some water, some salt, and we had hard boiled eggs!( see picture)

That looks like so much fun! Things cooked over a campfire always taste better, don't they? I think that the hot chocolate sounds especially good. :)
